Terms of Use
Last Updated: May 17, 2026
Welcome to Kanvis ("Kanvis," "we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using our website, platform, AI-powered tools, or any associated services (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use the Service.
Please read these Terms carefully. They contain important information about your rights, obligations, and the nature of the Service — particularly around AI-generated content, public profiles, and how your data is used to operate and improve our systems.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account, uploading content, interacting with our AI, claiming a username, or otherwise using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms, along with our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated herein by reference. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent and warrant that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
2. Description of Service
Kanvis is a candidate-first portfolio platform that turns a static résumé into a verified, interactive web profile and provides AI-powered career tools on top of it. The Service currently includes the following candidate-facing surfaces:
- Build (
/candidate/build): A conversational AI agent ("Azmuth") that scaffolds your full professional profile through chat — uploading and parsing your resume, asking probing questions, and populating experiences, skills, projects, awards, education, certifications, narratives, and related entities. Azmuth operates in a "Builder" phase before you publish and an "Engagement" phase after you publish, with different prompts and tooling per phase. - JD Mentor (
/candidate/jd-mentor): An analysis tool that, given a job description (pasted or uploaded as PDF/DOCX), produces a deterministic match score (0–100), a five-component score breakdown, and a long-form mentor-style analysis (strengths, gaps, an action plan, and recommended next steps). - STAR Resume (
/candidate/resume): A generator that produces an ATS-friendly STAR-format résumé as a PDF or LaTeX bundle, derived from your verified Kanvis profile. - Share (
/candidate/share): A first-person outreach copy generator that drafts recruiter-facing messages (email, LinkedIn, WhatsApp) embedding your verified profile URL. - Publish (
/candidate/publish): The flow that lets you claim a unique username and make your portfolio publicly accessible atkanvis.me/<username>. - Public Profile (
kanvis.me/<username>): Your published portfolio, accessible to anyone on the internet. Public profiles include a floating chat widget ("AI Twin") that answers visitor questions about you using only the verified data on your profile. - Dashboard (
/): Your private overview of profile views, completeness, referral counts, and quick access to the candidate-facing tools above.
Recruiter Features. Recruiter-side features (search, candidate discovery, outreach tooling) are not currently part of the Service. The only recruiter-facing surface available today is a waitlist registration at /recruiter/waitlist. Recruiters using the platform's candidate-side features (e.g., viewing public profiles) are bound by Section 8 of these Terms regardless.
We may add, modify, or remove features at any time, with or without notice.
3. Account Registration & Anonymous Use
A. Anonymous Sessions
You may begin building a profile without creating an account. When you do so:
- We create a temporary, anonymous Firebase Authentication session and associate your in-progress profile, uploaded documents, chat history, and other data with that session.
- This anonymous session and the data tied to it may be retained on our servers as described in our Privacy Policy.
- When you later sign in with an email, Google, or other supported method, the anonymous session is linked to your authenticated account so your in-progress data carries over.
- Unclaimed anonymous sessions may be retained, anonymized, or deleted at our discretion.
B. Registered Accounts
When you create an authenticated account (via Google Sign-In, email verification code, or another supported method):
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and any device that remains signed in.
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
- You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update such information as necessary.
- You must be at least 16 years of age to create an account.
C. Username Claim and Publication
Choosing a username and publishing your profile is a deliberate, separate step. You acknowledge that:
- Usernames are unique, first-come first-served, and subject to a reserved-words allowlist enforced by Kanvis.
- Once you publish, your profile becomes publicly accessible at
kanvis.me/<username>and the public URL may be cached by search engines, social platforms, and other third parties. - We may, at our reasonable discretion, reclaim or rename usernames that infringe third-party rights, impersonate real people or organizations without authorization, or violate these Terms.
4. User Content
A. Definition
"User Content" means any and all information, data, text, documents, resumes, job descriptions, images, media, chat messages, references, FAQs, or other materials that you upload, submit, type, or generate through your use of the Service, including data derived from your interactions with our AI agents.
B. Ownership
You retain ownership of the original raw documents you upload (e.g., your resume PDF, job descriptions, profile images). However, you acknowledge that once your content is processed by our AI systems, the resulting enriched profiles, narratives, analyses, generated resumes, generated outreach copy, and other AI-produced artifacts are derivative works that incorporate our proprietary technology.
C. License Grant
By uploading, submitting, or otherwise providing User Content to the Service, you grant Kanvis a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable, transferable, perpetual, and irrevocable license to:
- Use, reproduce, modify, adapt, and process your User Content to operate, maintain, and improve the Service.
- Analyze, aggregate, and derive insights from your User Content (in both identifiable and de-identified forms) to develop, train, retrain, fine-tune, evaluate, and improve our AI models, algorithms, machine learning systems, and related technologies.
- Create derivative works based on your User Content, including AI-generated narratives, JD analyses, STAR-format resumes, outreach drafts, and other enriched profile data.
- Display and distribute your published profile content as part of the Service, including making your published profile publicly accessible at your chosen Kanvis URL and surfacing it through future talent-discovery features.
- Use de-identified, anonymized, or aggregated versions of your User Content for research, analytics, benchmarking, product development, and commercial purposes, without restriction.
This license survives termination of your account to the extent necessary to (a) maintain the integrity of any derivative works created prior to termination, (b) preserve our chat ledger as an audit trail, and (c) retain any training data already incorporated into our AI systems.
D. AI-Generated Content
You acknowledge and agree that:
- All content produced by our AI — including but not limited to the conversational outputs of Azmuth (the Build agent), the JD Mentor analysis (strengths, gaps, action items, score components), STAR-format resumes, drafted outreach copy, AI Twin chat responses on your public profile, and any enrichments to your profile — is generated by large language models (currently including Google Gemini and similar third-party model families) and is provided on an "as is" basis.
- AI-generated content may contain factual errors, fabricated achievements, hallucinated credentials, mis-attributed dates or employers, exaggerations, or omissions.
- It is your sole responsibility to review, verify, edit, and approve all AI-generated content before publishing it to your profile, generating a resume, sending an outreach message, or otherwise relying on it.
- The JD Mentor score is a deterministic computation over LLM-extracted booleans and categorical labels; it is a heuristic, not a guarantee of fit, suitability, or interview outcome.
- The AI Twin on your public profile is constrained to read-only access to your published profile data — it has no ability to modify your profile and is structurally prevented from doing so. However, its responses are still subject to the limitations of language models and may misstate or misinterpret your information.
- Kanvis shall not be liable for any inaccuracies, misrepresentations, exaggerations, hallucinations, or omissions in AI-generated content, whether or not you have reviewed such content before publication or use.
5. Data Usage & AI Training
A. Commitment to Improvement
Kanvis is building AI technology designed to help candidates tell better career stories and (in the future) help organizations find the right talent. To do that, we continuously improve our systems using data generated through the Service.
B. How We Use Your Data
By using the Service, you expressly consent to Kanvis using your User Content and all data generated through your use of the Service — including but not limited to conversational data, chat ledger entries, JD analyses, generated resumes, drafted outreach copy, interaction patterns, profile data, behavioral analytics, view counts, and usage metadata — for the following purposes:
- Service Delivery: Providing, personalizing, and enhancing your experience on the platform.
- AI Training & Development: Training, retraining, fine-tuning, validating, and evaluating our AI agents, models, and tooling.
- Research & Analytics: Conducting research, generating analytics, and producing benchmarking data to understand professional trends, labor markets, and talent patterns.
- Product Innovation: Developing new features, products, services, and technologies, including potential future recruiter-facing features.
- Quality Assurance: Monitoring, debugging, and improving the accuracy and performance of our AI systems.
- Aggregated Insights: Creating anonymized, aggregated, or de-identified datasets for internal and external use.
C. No Opt-Out for Core Processing
You acknowledge that certain data processing activities — including AI processing of your inputs to deliver the Service and training on platform-wide data — are integral to the Service and cannot be selectively opted out of while continuing to use the Service. If you do not consent to this usage, you must discontinue use of the Service and delete your account (see Section 14).
6. Published Profiles, Verification, and Public Information
A. Publication
When you choose to publish your Kanvis profile and claim a username:
- Your profile information becomes publicly accessible on the internet at
kanvis.me/<username>. - Your published profile may be indexed by search engines and cached by third parties (including social platforms, archival services, and SEO crawlers) beyond our control.
- Visitors — including recruiters, peers, and the general public — may view, save, screenshot, and share your published profile and may interact with the AI Twin chat widget anchored to it.
B. Verification and "Verified" Labels
Kanvis emphasizes that every profile entity is linked, where possible, to the chat message or document that produced it (an internal audit trail we call "evidence linking"). However, you acknowledge that:
- Kanvis does not independently verify the truthfulness of your claims (e.g., we do not contact employers, schools, or issuing bodies).
- Any "Verified" label, badge, or audit indicator surfaced through the Service reflects the audit trail, not third-party verification.
- You are solely responsible for the accuracy of every claim on your profile.
C. Responsibility
By publishing, you represent and warrant that:
- All information on your profile is accurate and truthful to the best of your knowledge.
- You have the right to share and publish all content contained in your profile, including any third-party logos, trademarks, project descriptions, or media.
- You will not impersonate another person or organization or misrepresent your relationship with any entity.
- You understand that published content is visible to the public and may be cached or archived beyond our control, even after deletion.
7. Referrals and Shared Links
The Service allows you to share your published profile through unique URLs and referral links (e.g., kanvis.me/<username>?ref=<your-username>). By using referrals you acknowledge that:
- We track referral attribution to power your dashboard's referral and influence metrics.
- You will not engage in deceptive or abusive referral tactics (e.g., bot-driven sign-ups, incentivized spam, or referral schemes designed to inflate counts).
8. Visitor and Recruiter Usage
If you access the Service to view candidate profiles, interact with the AI Twin on a public profile, or otherwise use any candidate-facing surface (whether as a recruiter, peer, or member of the public):
- You agree to use any data you observe solely for legitimate, lawful purposes consistent with applicable employment, anti-discrimination, and data-protection laws in your jurisdiction.
- You shall not scrape, bulk-download, systematically extract, or use automated tools to harvest candidate data from the platform.
- You shall not use the AI Twin chat widget to attempt to extract proprietary system instructions, jailbreak the agent, or trigger denial-of-service conditions.
- You shall not contact candidates through information surfaced on their published profile in a manner that violates anti-spam laws (including but not limited to CAN-SPAM, GDPR, or PECR).
- Recruiter accounts and recruiter-side features are not currently available; if and when they are introduced, additional terms may apply.
9. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to:
- Upload malicious files, viruses, or any harmful code to the platform.
- Attempt to "prompt-inject," jailbreak, or otherwise manipulate any of our AI agents (Azmuth, JD Mentor, STAR Resume, Share, AI Twin) to bypass their intended constraints, extract proprietary system instructions, or trigger mutations on accounts other than your own.
- Impersonate other professionals, fabricate credentials, or provide fraudulent information.
- Use automated bots, scrapers, headless browsers, or other tools to systematically access, harvest, or extract data from the platform.
- Submit job descriptions or other content you do not have the right to use.
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service or its infrastructure (including by triggering excessive resource consumption against our AI providers).
- Use the Service to harass, defame, discriminate against, or threaten others.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or otherwise derive the source code or underlying algorithms of the Service.
- Resell, redistribute, or sublicense access to the Service or any data obtained through it without our prior written consent.
- Use the Service to violate any applicable law or regulation, including employment, anti-discrimination, data-protection, or export-control laws.
10. Intellectual Property
A. Our Property
The Service — including all software, AI agents, prompts, model orchestration logic, designs, templates (including STAR resume LaTeX templates), text, graphics, interfaces, and the overall "look and feel" of the platform — is owned by Kanvis and is protected by intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right, title, or interest in the Service except for the limited right to use it in accordance with these Terms.
B. Feedback
If you provide any feedback, suggestions, ideas, or recommendations regarding the Service ("Feedback"), you assign to Kanvis all right, title, and interest in such Feedback. We are free to use Feedback for any purpose without compensation or attribution to you.
11. Third-Party Services
The Service integrates with third-party services to operate. These currently include, without limitation:
- AI model providers (e.g., Google Gemini and similar large language model providers) for AI processing of your inputs and generation of profile, resume, JD-analysis, and outreach content.
- Document parsing providers (e.g., LlamaParse) for extracting structured content from uploaded resumes and job descriptions.
- Authentication providers (Firebase Authentication, including Google Sign-In).
- Cloud infrastructure providers (Google Cloud Platform — Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, Cloud Tasks, Cloud Storage, and related GCP services).
- Email delivery providers (e.g., Resend) for verification codes and transactional email.
- Hosting and CDN providers (e.g., Vercel).
- Product analytics and error capture providers (e.g., PostHog).
You acknowledge that:
- Your data may be processed by these third-party providers in accordance with their respective terms and privacy policies.
- Kanvis is not responsible for the independent practices, availability, or security of any third-party service.
- Your use of integrations is at your own risk.
See our Privacy Policy for more detail on data flows.
12. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, KANVIS DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- MERCHANTABILITY and FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.

You expressly acknowledge that AI-generated content may contain errors, inaccuracies, or fabricated information, and that you assume full responsibility for verifying and acting on any information generated by the Service.
13. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL KANVIS, ITS DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, PARTNERS, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR:

IN ANY EVENT, OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU HAVE PAID TO KANVIS IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100).
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Kanvis and its directors, officers, employees, agents, partners, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to:

15. Termination
A. By You
You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us at privacy@kanvis.me (or by using an in-product account-deletion feature where available). Upon termination:
- Your published profile will be taken down from
kanvis.me/<username>within a reasonable timeframe. - Your username may, after a cool-down period, become available for re-registration by other users.
- Previously published content may continue to exist in search engine caches, social-platform previews, or third-party archives beyond our control.
- De-identified and aggregated data derived from your User Content may be retained indefinitely for AI model improvement and analytics purposes, as described in Section 5 and the Privacy Policy.

We reserve the right to suspend, restrict, or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice, including but not limited to situations where:
- You violate these Terms or any applicable law.
- Your conduct is harmful, abusive, or disruptive to other users, the AI agents, or the platform.
- We reasonably believe your account has been compromised.

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.
B. Arbitration
Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through binding individual arbitration administered by a mutually agreed-upon arbitration service, rather than in court. You waive your right to participate in class actions or class-wide arbitration.
C. Exceptions
Notwithstanding the above, either party may seek injunctive or equitable relief in a court of competent jurisdiction to protect intellectual property rights.
17. Modifications to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and may provide additional notice through the Service or by email. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically.

- Assignment: We may assign or transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms without restriction. You may not assign these Terms without our prior written consent.
- Force Majeure: Kanvis shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, acts of government, internet outages, AI provider outages, or upstream system failures.
